I am ALL about digital strategy lately! How come? Because I refuse to advertise for a business if it’s not going to be worth their investment.
And I own a digital advertising agency! So it’s safe to say I believe in the power of advertising. It’s my goal to use advertising to help my client’s businesses grow, but in order to make those ad campaigns (or really any of your marketing efforts!) worth the investment there are some things that should be in place FIRST. Let me share a couple of common examples.
Company #1
…has been in business for 3 years, has grown a very solid client base and has 1,200 people on their mailing list. All great accomplishments! So what’s the problem? In three years they hadn’t sent a single email to that list. Not one.
Company #2
…has been in business for 2 years, carries desirable products and has also organically grown a substantial customer base. Really great news! But when you go to their Facebook page there’s nothing that engages you or showcases the company’s exceptional products or offers, unless you take the time to go looking for it.
I share these examples kindly — these companies knew they needed a better digital strategy, but they didn’t know what to do, which is why they sought help. So cheers to both of them for striving for growth and improvement! I also share them because they are not uncommon. In fact, I come across these examples, and others like them, very frequently.
Here’s the bottom line. If you’re going to spend your time, energy and money on advertising and marketing for your business it is ESSENTIAL to take the time to create a solid foundation, a strategic digital path and automations that will make your life easier as your business grows.
That way, when you invest your hard-earned money on an ad campaign to drive more traffic to your website, or to convert people into leads with an enticing email opt-in, or to showcase your amazing products and services, people will have a clear path that’s easy to follow — a path that walks them from first meeting you, to liking you and trusting you and your brand, to becoming your loyal customer.
