THE FUNK.
The dreaded funk. We all fall into it sometimes, business owner or not. Remember, there will always be ups and downs, wins and losses — they’re part of any business, and, you know… life! The trick is keeping your eye on your goals, and not letting the funk keep you down or consume you.
Here are a few fun action steps to revive your zest, remind you of your goals, get clear on your path and solidify your determination.
Write out what a day in your ideal life looks like.
Include things like where you wake up, how you start your day, where you live, what you drive, what you eat, what you wear, what you do for work…
Ask yourself if you run your own business, what does that business look like, who do you work with, what kind of clients do you have, what kind of sales do you make and how often…
Now think about who surrounds you, what do you have to look forward to, where do you travel, how often do you vacation.
Now price it out.
Write out every single aspect of how much this life would actually cost you. Often, the life we subconsciously dream about isn’t all that far out of reach. Once you can see the details clearly and know the cost of reaching your goal, you can set measurable action steps to get you there.
When you know your goals and you set the right action steps, you can be sure that each small step you take forward is leading you to the right destination. It’s not impossible — it’s just logistics! And planning.
Some final steps: repeat ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE to yourself anytime the funk threatens to take over. Take a break. Find someone to give you a pep talk. And if you haven’t yet, read Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo — it’s a sure way to make yourself feel like a real life superhero.
It’s easy to imagine the life you want and think oh, that just isn’t in the cards for me. Well I’m here to tell you it is. It might require hard work, perseverance, stepping way out of your comfort zone and doing things you’ve never done, but you can do it! And, in the end, the things you learn along the way will make you a better person. So happy de-funking!
